LUXEMBOURG RANKS AS THE 4TH FINANCIAL CENTRE IN THE EU

The attractiveness and expertise of Luxembourg’s financial centre remains internationally recognised. According to the new semi-annual ranking of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI 32) published on 22 September, Luxembourg has moved up the ranking and is now positioned fourth in the European Union and sixth on the continent, ahead of financial centres such as Zurich.  “This new ranking highlights the dominance of American and Asian financial centres. Further European integration is needed to strengthen the domestic market, and through that the attractiveness of our financial centres and thus the financial industry as a whole,” comments Nicolas Mackel, CEO of Luxembourg for Finance. The GFCI is published by Z/Yen Partners, in September and March, in collaboration with the China Development Institute.

H.R.H. Prince Guillaume and Minister of Economy Visit DuPont

H.R.H. Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and Mr. Franz Fayot, Minister of Economy, visited the company DuPont de Nemours, which has been established in Contern since 1962 and which today employs nearly 1,150 people. The company's directors presented the Prince and the Minister with the Luxembourg production site where innovative materials are manufactured for the construction, automotive and health sectors. One of the company's flagship products, known for its resistance, is used for building insulation as well as for medical suits designed to protect personnel from viruses. 60 years after its establishment in the Grand Duchy, the company continues its development. The visit ended at the foot of the extension site which will see the factory equip itself with a new production line, which will allow the creation of 120 new jobs.
