Luxembourg's secretary of state for the economy, Francine Closener, looked notably pleased as she presented the country's annual tourism figures on Tuesday, and with good reason.

Tourism is on the rise in the Grand Duchy, and for 2017 a new record was set: More than three million overnight stays were registered.

In all regions of the Grand Duchy tourism increased last year. The figures showed the rise was +6% for Luxembourg City compared with 2016, +4% in the Ardennes region, +6% in the south of the country, +4% in the Moselle region, +1 in Mullerthal and +1 in the centre-west part of Luxembourg.
